This puffy cinnamon roll is sandwiched with apple pie filling, a copious mix of brown sugar syrup, and warm fall spices, yielding an utterly delicious and easy breakfast.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9 X 13 casserole/baking dish and set aside.
Melt the butter In an oven-safe bowl, sprinkle in the spice, pour in the brown sugar, and whisk to combine. Set it aside
½ cup unsalted butter plus more to grease the pan, ⅓ cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon allspice
Place wax or parchment paper on a flat tray or cookie sheet. Carefully remove the rolls from the tube and line them in a single layer on the pan. Use a knife or scissors to cut the buns into ¼ chunks ( or 4 pieces).
2 (17.2 ounces) cans Pillsbury cinnamon roll
Place the cinnamon chunks into the pre-greased casserole/baking dish.
Scoop the apples from the can using kitchen tongs or a fork, being careful not to transfer all the juice. If you dislike chunky apples, cut them into smaller pieces. Add the apples to the baking dish and drizzle over ¾ of the butter and sugar mixture from earlier.
2 (21-ounce) cans fruit filling
Use both hands to gently fold the mixture, careful not to smoosh it (overmix). Then, pour over the remaining melted butter mix.
Cover with foil and bake for 28 minutes or until fully cooked, puffed, golden brown. Remove the foil and bake for another 7 minutes until crisp around the edges.
Meanwhile, remove the cover from the icing that came with the tube. Microwave on medium at 50% power for 10-15 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle. (or follow the instructions on the package).
While it’s still hot, drizzle the icing over the baked cinnamon apple pie before serving. Enjoy! Please refer to the body of the posts for more useful cooking tips, process shots, and serving options.
Notes
Work fast when using the cinnamon rolls, as they will get softer. Preferably, cut the rolls last and combine them with the apples immediately before baking.
If you don't want the baked dish to be too wet, use your hands to squeeze out some of the juice from each apple.
Most brands have a larger chunk of Apple. Cut it in half or smaller if you prefer.
